CaseBank History: CaseBank version 0.0 began in the early 1980's as sporadic 3x5 cards in a shoebox. Version 1.0 was created in 1985 on a computer with actual "floppy" disks and a software program called Cornerstone that disappeared a few years later. Version 2.0 used Paradox, a database still around. Version 3.0 was the first point-and-click version using FileMaker on an Apple computer. Version 4.0 was the first Windows version using Access. Version 5.0 returned to a windows version of FileMaker. You are using version 6.0 -- casebanklaw.com -- the first Web-based version.
CaseBank was first for personal use only. Then it morphed into an Officewide Resource. When the editor went to the Bench, it morphed again into a moonlight commercial product marketed only to judges. When the editor retired, it morphed into a personal hobby, which is its current status.
CaseBank is updated monthly. But, sometimes the update is late by a couple of weeks.
CaseBank has over 22.000 summaries. Hopefully they are all accurate, but, should you find an error, please send an email and it will be fixed.
Also, CaseBank should have every California criminal opinion since April 1991. If you find one missing, send an email and it will be added.
A word about indexing. Indexing is HARD. The CaseBank Index is intuitive to the editor. If it is maddening to you, he apologizes. Many summaries are indexed into two or more topics. For all its difficulties, the editor insists the index system is better than word searches.
